Northern/Central Area 4-H Camp — July 16-22, 2017
Registration Open to All Central Area Counties; After June 15, all Nevada Counties
The counties considered "in-area" for the Central Area 4-H Camp includes Lyon, Churchill, Humboldt, Elko, Battle Mountain, Mineral, Lander and Pershing. Youth from military families residing in these counties or whose parent/guardian is based in these counties is considered "in-area".
Time to plan for the 2017 Central Area 4-H Camp at Lake Tahoe! The 4-H Camp offers youth an opportunity to eat, sleep and have fun in the great outdoors! Past activities included balloon rides, Military Day, dances, skits, workshops and arts & crafts activities.
Camp is open to all youth between the ages of 9 and 13 (as of January 1st, 2017) Youth do not have to be enrolled in 4-H to go to camp, but enroll as part of camp registration. Camp is planned and operated by UNCE staff, UNCE volunteers and Teen Counselors (14-18 as of January 1st, 2017.)
Please note: Central Area youth have the first opportunity to register for and attend camp. However, after June 10th; the out-of-area campers may be invited to camp based on available space and the number of Adult Chaperones. Central Area youth are strongly encouraged to register early. Camper: Central Area youth - June 23, 2017 (ALL registration documents, w/applicable fee, due to local UNCE office.) Registrations accepted on a first come, first served basis; space at camp is limited!
Final Registration Deadline: July 1st.
2017 Fee - $285.00 for 4-Hers $335.00 for Non 4-Hers (local scholarships may be available)

Adult Counselor: TBS
* Adults who are not already official UNCE Volunteers must successfully complete the Volunteer application process and pass a fingerprint background screening. The screening can take up to 3 months to complete.
* Required to attend Camp Training in June, (date & location TBD).
Teen Counselor: April 14, 2017 (ALL Application documents due in local UNCE office
2017 Fee - $195.00 (Due June 1st, 2017 if youth invited to camp)
* Teen applicants must be able to attend an interview (in person or via Interactive Video) on May 2nd or 4th, 2017
* Must be able to attend Camp Training on May 6th, 2017 in Fallon from 9am to 4pm.
Teen Counselor applicants, please note: Not all applicants interviewed will be selected as Counselors. The Interview/Selection Committee will rank all applicants after interviews. Counselors will be invited to attend Camp based on these rankings and the number of cabins open is dependent on adult chaperone availability. Those not invited to camp will be placed on an alternate list; only enough Counselors necessary to staff open cabins will be invited to camp.
2017 Central Area 4-H Camp — Camp Training
Teen and Adult Applicants — Please Read!
There is a mandatory training for Teen Counselors and Adult Chaperones in June, (date & location TBD). Counselors will receive additional information should they be invited to camp. Training is an opportunity for camp staff (Counselors, UNCE employees and the Camp Director) to get acquainted and to develop skills and ideas benefiting camp. It generally will cover roles, rules and responsibilities, problem solving, working with youth and development of the camp's evening program, crafts, day/evening activities and workshops, and the required Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Prevention from the University of Nevada Reno or State of Nevada.
Casual (4-H appropriate) dress is acceptable. Transportation to/from training is solely the responsibility of attendees.
Failure of a Counselor to attend this training may result in his/her replacement by an alternate.
