Field Trips and Other Activities

Field Trip to the Orchard

We offer free interactive field trips for students to visit our orchard, or tours for teachers at the new Children's Demonstration Gardens.

The orchard is operated by the Master Gardeners, and is located at the Center for Urban Horticulture and Water Conservation (also known as the "Center"). At the orchard, there are over 500 fruit trees, grape vines and vegetable gardens, with interactive activities to learn about how fruit trees and other plants grow in the desert.

The Center is located in the northern area of the Las Vegas valley, at 4600 W. Horse Drive, North Las Vegas, 89129. This is near the corner of Decatur Blvd at Horse Rd. This 2 hour Field trip is available in spring and fall, on Wednesday and Fridays only.

The Children's Demonstration Gardens are located in the southern area of the Las Vegas valley, at the UNCE Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Rd, Las Vegas, 89123. This is near the Windmill off-ramp of the I-215 freeway. We currently offer tours for teachers by appointment, and will soon be offering field trips for classes.

All activities are aligned to Nevada Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. Pre and post classroom activities are also available by appointment.
