Homemade Bubbles

Infants and toddlers love bubbles. Infants love watching them float in the breeze and toddlers love chasing and catching the bubbles you make. There is no need to purchase bubble mix. They are easy to make following these simple directions.

Recipe #1

Mix together:

  • 1/2 cup Joy* or Dawn* detergent
  • 5 cups cold water
  • 2 tablespoons glycerin

A loop made from a pipe cleaner or a coat hanger makes a good bubble blower. Pour the bubble mixture into a frying pan and dip your coat hanger loop into the solution, then wave it in the air. Save the leftover bubble mix in a plastic jar or bottle. The longer your solution sits, the better it gets. Bubbles are a good outside activity. The soap may leave a ring on the furniture or flooring if blown inside.

Recipe #2

Mix together:

  • 1/4 cup clear liquid dishwashing detergent
  • 1/4 cup glycerin
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Store left over bubble mixture in a plastic jar or bottle.
