Posted 5/25/2007

The 16th Annual Chefs for Kids Dinner and Auction will be held on Saturday, May 19 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The evening will honor Eric Hilton, of Hilton Hotels and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, for his support of Chefs for Kids and for his vision to feed the hungry in the Las Vegas community-Three Square.

The gala evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception and silent auction. Dave Courvoisier, KLAS-TV anchor, will be Master of Ceremonies. A gourmet dinner, prepared under the supervision of Executive Chef Pete Ghione, will be served at 7 p.m. Christian Kolberg will also conduct a live auction during this time. The evening will continue with dancing to the music of Harbor Lights.

Chefs for Kids, Inc. is a joint venture of the American Culinary Federation Chefs of Las Vegas and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. The Chefs for Kids program works to eliminate malnutrition and hunger through education and awareness. The nutrition education program is taught to high-needs first and second grade students in Clark County.

Often in a society where television and computers bring information to our doorstep, we assume that simple facts like knowing that a pear grows on a tree or that a balanced diet is essential to good health throughout a lifetime are well-known by everyone. Surprisingly, many children lack the essential nutritional knowledge necessary to improve poor eating habits. In addition to the educational program, the chefs provide monthly breakfasts and healthy snack programs to participating schools.

Tickets for the event are $175 per person. Tables of ten are $1,750. To purchase tickets or for more information about this black tie optional event, please call 702-257-5548.
