Master Gardener Oct. garden tour
Just trees topic for next tour
University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners have scheduled garden tours for fall 2015. The tours are free and open to the public. Master Gardeners will discuss various plants, how to care for them and their uses in the home landscape. Tours begin at 10 a.m.
Saturday, October 3, the topic presented is Just trees. View a variety of landscape and fruit trees — big, small, blooming, evergreen, fruiting, or fall color. Learn how to choose the right tree and the right spot to enhance your yard.
To join the tour, meet in the Courtyard of the Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, Nev., by 10 a.m. Walking shoes, water, hats, etc. are suggested. Groups (five or more people) are requested to call Ann Edmunds, program coordinator, at 702-257-5587 at least two weeks in advance.
The Demonstration Gardens contain over 500 species of desert appropriate landscape plants, including: trees, shrubs, perennials, palms, cacti and agaves. Plants are identified by botanical and common names. The grounds are open for self-guided walks on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The November 21 garden tour topic is 50 Shades of Green
