Desert Green XIX announces speaker line-up
Theme: Arid and Aware: A New Perspective
University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, a sponsor of the annual Desert Green conference, announces the new venue and speaker line-up. This year’s conference will be held on October 22-23, 2015 at Texas Station in North Las Vegas. The new venue will make it especially convenient for attendees who are traveling to the conference, as the hotel is adjacent to the meeting facility.
"Arid and Aware: A New Perspective" focuses on practical horticulture and turf care with water conservation in mind. The conference features two days of concurrent seminar tracks, table top displays and a green industry mixer.
Keynote speaker John Rader, co-founder of EuroAmerican Propagators, LLC in Bonsall, CA, EuroAmerican Propagators, has created a niche for itself, specializing in the year-round production of young plants and offers new and unique plant varieties. Rader’s keynote address will focus on sustainable landscape plants; he will also be speaking on ornamental grasses during the general session.
Back this year will be the popular "Plants, Plants, Plants" session. In addition to Rader’s presentation, there will be talks on palms by ML Robinson, Disease Resistant Plants by Kathy Kosta, David Howlett on Nevada’s big tree program and more. In addition, there will be tracks on Pest Management (with pesticide CEUs for Nev., Cal., Ariz. and Utah) Landscape Architecture, Irrigation and Water Conservation and Golf and Sports Turf Management.
The conference also features table top displays offering the latest products and services. A green industry mixer with complimentary snacks and beverages follows the conference on October 22, with a book signing by the authors speaking at the conference. Sponsorships are available.
The conference is sponsored by the: Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, Southern Nevada Golf Course Superintendents Association; Nevada Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects; University of Nevada Cooperative Extension; Southern Nevada Water Authority; Southern Nevada Landscape Association, Nevada Shade Tree Council; Southwest Trees & Turf and the Southern Nevada Arborists Group.
