Herpetological Society meeting set for February 6
Nephrurus~ a genus of nine species of gecko discussion
Join University of Nevada Cooperative Extension as they host the monthly Herpetological Society meeting on February 6. The evening’s presenter is Jordan Russell. The discussion will be on the Knob-tailed Gecko (Genus Nephrurus). Knob-tailed Geckos are easily distinguished by their short bodies, large heads, small legs, and short, carrot-shaped tails that often end in a small knob.
Jordan Russell is the owner of California Breeders Union (a company which specializes in the captive propagation of rare and unusual geckos and importation of unusual exotic lizards) He is also the founder of the Reptile and Amphibian Charity Auctions (an online auction house for animal related nonprofits), BreederSource.com (an online tool for animal breeders of all types which affords them what it takes to build a professional website in minutes).
Other projects he has developed includes Model Herpetoculturist Program, a mail-in service for veterinary diagnostic testing for keepers and vets, and Breeder Source, an e-commerce website service tailored to the animal industry. Bird projects include species repopulation and recovery programs with California birds of prey, and pelagic birds along the California coast. Russell has been the author of several Reptiles Magazine articles, and has provided cable TV and radio consulting and interviews on birds and reptiles.
