Desert Green XVIII prepares for new venue
Smart alternatives for tomorrow’s landscapes
The annual Desert Green conference co-sponsored by University of Nevada Cooperative Extension has initiated many changes for 2014. The dates are November 6-7 and the new location is the Henderson Convention Center located at 200 S. Water St., Henderson, Nev.
"Tapping into the Future: smart alternative for tomorrow’s landscape” focuses on water conservation and new ways to offer sustainable turf and landscapes for the arid Southwest. The conference features two days concurrent seminar tracks, table top displays and a green industry mixer. Keynote speaker, Jim Downer, is a perennial favorite at the conference and will offer his view of industry changes plus educational sessions.
The conference offers two days of advanced arboriculture; pest management (with pesticide CEUs for Nevada, California, Arizona and Utah); landscape architecture; irrigation and water conservation; and golf and sports turf management.
Fiesta Henderson is the host hotel. Room rates are $32 for Nov. 5 and $39 for Nov. 6. The room rate includes high-speed internet, unlimited local calls and unlimited access to fitness and pool. Call the Reservations Office at 888.899.7770 and ask for Desert Green Foundation rate or book online and use code RCIDGF4. Hurry! The reduced rate expires on October 15.
As in the past, the conference features table top displays offering the latest products and services. A green industry mixer with complimentary snacks and beverages follows the conference on November 7.
