Hispanic Landscape Training offered in September

These free workshops offered by Clark County Cooperative Extension are designed to enhance employability skills and increase job retention in the green industry (nursery, landscaping, and landscape maintenance) in Southern Nevada. The trainings will be held each Tuesday in September from 5:30 — 8:30 p.m. at the Lifelong Learning Center (8050 Paradise Road, LV 89123).

Topics and dates are: September 3, Fertilizers and Soil; September 10, Proper Planting Techniques; September 17, Insect and Pest Control for Native and Non-Native Plants; and September 24, Palms: Growing, Pruning and Maintenance.

The training also includes materials focusing on improving English and math skills, meeting job expectations, paying attention to details, and safety and worker protection topics (lifting techniques, PPE, and industry safety standards). The classes will be in Spanish and in English. Participants will receive a certificate for each class. The training sessions are open to any private, public employer and the public at no charge.
