Junior Master Gardener Program at Lifelong Learning Center
The Food for Thoughts program is starting a new Junior Master Gardener (JMG) program at the Lifelong Learning Center in February. There is a new, children’s garden that is nearly completed with a 40 foot diameter, circular garden. When completed, the garden will include musical components, a grapevine tunnel, a sunflower playhouse and a human sundial among other features. This two year program for children ages 7 and over, teaches children about the environment and the plants and animals that live in it. Classes will be held on the second and fourth Saturdays in spring and fall.
There is also a JMG program operating at the Children’s Garden located at the Center for Urban Horticulture and Water Conservation in North Las Vegas. There is a beautiful garden with fruit trees, grape vines, artichokes, strawberries and many other features. Registration for the spring program is ongoing. The classes at this Center will be held the first and third Saturdays of the month and are open to children ages 7 and over.
