Two of Las Vegas’ renowned chefs will represent Las Vegas, joining over 270 Chefs from over 30 countries, at the biggest fundraising event ever undertaken within the global chef’s fraternity! Christopher Johns, executive chef for the South Point Casino, and Michael Ty, C.E.C., A.A.C. national president of The America Culinary Federation, both volunteer with University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Chefs for Kids (CFK) program which is committed to eliminating malnutrition and hunger in children through education and awareness.

The World Chefs Tour Against Hunger will start in Johannesburg on August 21, then teams of Chefs will go to different parts of South Africa working to raise money for education and to fight hunger. Fundraising gala dinners will be held in Durban on August 25 at the Southern Sun Elangeni; on August 27, in Cape Town at the Southern Sun Cape Sun, along with other cities; and finally in Johannesburg on August 30 at the Sandton Convention Centre. The Chefs will also be doing cooking demonstrations and hosting parties for children.

“With the CFK program, children learn skills for living a healthy lifestyle through proper nutrition and physical activity,” said Chef Johns. “Chef Ty and I are honored to participate in this world tour and share these nutrition skills to the world in hopes to lessen the incidence of chronic disease and obesity.”
