Enthusiastic gardeners grabbing their gloves
Gardening season is fast approaching, and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) is cultivating a new breed of horticulture classes. UNCE’s Plant Industry Training begins February 1 and continues every Tuesday and Wednesday until the end of February.
This new, cost- and time-effective series features eight unique classes covering topics essential to the plant industry. The February courses are full up with registered participants who elected to attend either individual sessions for $15 per class or the entire eight-class course for a special $80 discounted rate.
Participants who take the full course will receive a certificate confirming they’ve completed UNCE Plant Industry Training. Individual-class participants will receive a certificate of attendance for the individual class topic.
The upcoming Plant Industry Training class titles include Practical Botany, Soil and Fertilizer Management, Lawn and Irrigation Management, Weed Law and Identification, Woody Landscape Plants, Container Plant Management, Plant Insects and Diseases and Simple Landscape Design. Many of the scheduled classes offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in the form of International Society of Arboriculture and Pesticide Applicator CEUs.
All Plant Industry Training classes will be held at Truckee Meadows Water Authority, located at 1355 Capital Boulevard in Reno, Nev. and will be taught by UNCE horticulture staff and local industry professionals.
