2010 Capital City Farm Days

Five hundred to a thousand western area elementary age kids get a chance to learn more about agriculture in Nevada at the two day event taking place April 22 and 23, from 8:45 a.m. — 2 p.m. each day at Fuji Park and Carson City Fairgrounds. Presentations represent various aspects of ranching and farming in the Great Basin as well as environmental issues that affect agriculture.

Students from Carson, Douglas, Lyon, Storey and Washoe County School Districts will be treated to numerous presentations and hands-on displays featuring dairy cows, horses, pigs, sheep, composting, a Basque sheep herding camp, riparian waterways, Lahontan Fish Hatchery, and much more. The annual event is sponsored by the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.

Approximately 32 station talks explain where and how we get our food and clothing and how agriculture affects our environment and how our environment affects agriculture.
