Pathways to Possiblitlities Community Coalition has a Back Pack Program

Posted 12/22/2009

The Pathways to Possibilities Community Coalition is offering a unique food assistance program to children who are enrolled at school k-8. This program is our Back Pack Kids program, in which children are provided a back pack full of non perishable nutritious, kid friendly foods purchased at a wholesale price to help tide the child over a weekend. The back packs contain 4-5 lbs of food that are packed by volunteers. The food cost of an average backpack is about $3.50, all covered by wonderful people like you through generous donations, who want to help end hunger. There are enough funds to get the program started but not enough to keep the program running. This is a good opportunity to donate to a local program. If you would like to donate to this program, there will be an account at Financial Horizons Credit Union under the Pathways to Possibilities title. If you work for the federal government you can choose to donate through the Nevada Combined Federal Campaign. If you would like to get involved you can attend a meeting at the El Capitan Steak Room 12:00 noon on January 28th. For more information on this program contact Ruby Ives at 945-3444 Ex 11.
