2 ’Weed Warrior’ training programs set

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension will host introductory-level training in invasive weeds and common nuisance weeds in two separate two-day sessions in April.

The "Weed Warriors" program will cover weed law, identification, biology, management and control of a wide variety of noxious and nuisance weed species, from Russian knapweed and leafy spurge to tall whitetop and tamarisk.

The first two-day session will be on April 2 (1-5 p.m.) and April 3 (8 a.m. to noon) and the second two-day session will be on April 22-23 from 8 a.m. to noon both days. Participants must complete both days of one session in order to complete the training.

The live training sessions will be at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, 5305 Mill St., Reno, and those sessions will be simultaneously videoconferenced to Carson City Cooperative Extension, 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 15.

Participants must preregister. The $30 registration fee includes program supplies, a binder of weed identification and control information, and refreshments. Make checks payable to Board of Regents and return with a registration form by March 25 (for April 2-3 class) or April 15 (for April 23-24 class) to:
