Discover Your Future next week
Third annual program exposes students to University of Nevada, Reno
RENO -- Teenage students will be attending the third annual Discover Your Future program, an experience of college life in three fields of study, Sunday through Thursday, at the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
"We have a balanced program that meets their needs and in the morning they're going to participate in college and education programs. They'll meet new friends and enjoy college life," said Steve Schaffer, state 4-H program coordinator.
Students, ages 14 to 19, will learn about different fields of study like science, technology and engineering. Along with experiencing a college education, students will participate in multiple fun activities like swimming, climbing wall, barbeque and a college share fair. A banquet dinner followed by an "analytical" magic show will be on Wednesday.
"We'll be giving them exposure to different careers," said Warren Andersen, 4-H military and technology assistant. "One of the big things is they learn to work well together and expand their horizons a lot, and they'll hopefully find interest for a career."
