Annual gardening and plant sale
LAS VEGAS-University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) and the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Desert Garden Center are partnering for the 5th year to present Spring in the Desert, an annual gardening and plant sale on Saturday, March 29, 2008. Join college staff and Master Gardeners for free educational workshops and the opportunity to purchase rare, native, xeric and unusual desert plants for your landscape from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This year’s event will feature a lecture series which will help valley gardeners create thriving landscapes in the arid, Las Vegas valley climate. Plants which offer food and habitat to local wildlife will also be showcased, giving gardeners a plant palate for attracting hummingbirds and butterflies to their homes, year round. Community partners will be on hand to provide attendees with helpful information including: the Springs Preserve, Nevada Cactus and Succulent Society, Tortoise Group, Southern Nevada Water Authority, Las Vegas Wash Project, Nevada Bonsai Society, the Conservation District of Southern Nevada, and many more.
The event will take place at the CSN Desert Garden Center located at 6221 West Charleston Blvd. If you would like more information, please call Jonathan La Valley at (702) 651-5050 or ML Robinson at (702) 257-5529, or visit the website at http://www.csn.edu/pages/102.asp.
