Four free gardening classes

Posted 11/5/2007

Fall in Las Vegas is the perfect time to get your garden in shape! The Master Gardeners of Southern Nevada will offer four, free gardening classes on Wednesdays beginning January 9 from 7-8 p.m. at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 S. Maryland Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89123.

During the month, learn how to use color and scents/sense for your desert landscape on January 9; design a people-and pet-friendly yard on January 16; plant warm season vegetables on January 23; and how to create an edible landscape on January 30. You can register for all four classes, or pick the session you are most interested in attending. To reserve a space call the Master Gardener Home Gardening Help Line at (702) 257-5555. Only pre-registered individuals will receive handouts.

Master Gardening means public education. Master Gardeners have completed a comprehensive UNCE horticultural program, and demonstrate correct desert gardening practices at community projects throughout Las Vegas. For further information on this nation-wide volunteer program, please contact Ann Edmunds, Master Gardener Program Coordinator, at (702) 257-5587 or
