Cooperative Extension receives two awards

LAS VEGAS-University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Dr. Angela O’Callaghan won the Best Public Service Program-Weekly, Desert Bloom, at the Women in Communication’s Electronic Media Awards.

Shade Tree, a shelter for women and children, selected University of Nevada Cooperative Extension to receive the 2007 Community Partnership award at the 6th Annual Stars Luncheon.

Desert Bloom airs on Nevada Public Radio, KNPR, every Tuesday at 5:33 a.m. and 7:33 a.m. and every Saturday at 8:35 a.m.

Cooperative Extension offers various programs at Shade Tree including the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is an outreach arm of the University that extends unbiased, research-based knowledge from the University of Nevada-and other land-grant universities-to local communities. Educational programs are developed based on local needs, sometimes in partnership with other agencies and volunteers.
