Four free gardening classes in Las Vegas

Posted 8/23/2007

LAS VEGAS-Fall in Las Vegas is the perfect time to get your garden in shape! The Master Gardeners of Southern Nevada will offer four, free gardening classes on Wednesdays beginning October 3 from 7-8 p.m. at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 S. Maryland Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89123.

During the month, learn how to winterize your garden on October 3, design a desert landscape on October 10, care for your interior plants on October 17, and get tips on how-to hire a landscaper on October 24. You can register for all four classes, or pick the session you are most interested in attending. To reserve a space call the Master Gardener Home Gardening Help Line at (702) 257-5555. Only pre-registered individuals will receive handouts.

Master Gardening means public education. Master Gardeners have completed a comprehensive UNCE horticultural program, and demonstrate correct desert gardening practices at community projects throughout Las Vegas. For further information on this nation-wide volunteer program, please contact Ann Edmunds, Master Gardener Program Coordinator, at (702) 257-5587 or edmundsa@unce.unr.edu.

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is an outreach arm of the University that extends unbiased, research-based knowledge from the University of Nevada-and other land-grant universities-to local communities. Educational programs are developed based on local needs, sometimes in partnership with other agencies and volunteers.
