Little Books and Little Cooks program begins at local libraries

A workshop designed for parents and preschoolers

A 7-week healthy eating and nutrition program begins in September at several Las Vegas-Clark County libraries. Parents and preschool children create positive parent-child interaction as they work side-by-side through reading and cooking. The classes begin in September and are free and open to the public.

The Little Books and Little Cooks free program is offered by the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension. Topics for the 7-week classes include safety, five food groups, cooking with kids, introducing cultural foods, feeding and hunger and fullness, picky eating and, fruits and vegetables.

Sahara West Library-10:30 a.m. on Monday’s beginning Aug. 31.

Whitney Library-1 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Sept. 1.

Clark County Library-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday’s beginning Sept. 2.

West Charleston Library-1 p.m. on Thursday’s beginning Sept. 3.

Centennial Hills Library-11 a.m. on Friday’s beginning Sept. 4.

Las Vegas Library-5 p.m. on Wednesday’s beginning Oct. 7.

Summerlin Library-10:30 a.m. on Monday’s beginning Oct. 26.

Centennial Hills Library-1:30 p.m. on Monday’s beginning Oct. 26.

Spring Valley Library- 2 p.m. on Tuesday’s beginning Oct. 27.

Sunrise Library-11:30 a.m. on Friday’s beginning Oct. 23.
