Cooperative Extension and Rose Society Spring meetings

Cooperative Extension and the South Valley Rose Society are collaborating and offering educational meetings during the winter. Free and open to the public, meeting topics and dates are:
March 22, 2012--Growing Roses in Containers Cheryl Hume, grows 900+ roses mostly in containers Types of containers; double potting; types of potting soil and amendments; fertilizing schedule; gradual increase in container size; watering needs.
April 26, 2012--Companion Planting Richard Cutbirth, Master Gardener since 2004 Selection of vegetables and fruits that grow well in desert climate; soil preparation; warm versus cool crops; beneficial plants for roses.
May 24, 2012--Preservation of Heritage Roses Judith Kafantaris---Master Gardener since 2005 Heritage roses versus modern roses; types of heritage roses; fertilizing and pruning; propagation from cuttings.
June 22, 2012—A Summer Gathering is planned. Details at a later date!
