The 2018 4-H Shooting Sports safety classes are scheduled.  All shooting sports project members must attend a safety class and take the test for each discipline they wish to compete in during the current 4-H year. The safety class will cover general safety, rules and regulations, shooting procedures, positioning and form. A parent must accompany 4-H members to the classes. In order to qualify for every discipline you must stay through the entire class. Pre-registration is required by calling 738-7291 or registering at 4HOnline. The cost for NEW 4-H shooting sports members is $30.00 which covers all educational materials, project notebook and workshop supplies for the year. Cost for members who have participated in the shooting sports program before and have their project notebook is $20.00.  Please bring your shooting sports binders from last year with you. All Shooting Sports project members must attend one of these safety classes even if they attended the safety classes last year. SENIOR AGE 4-H MEMBERS, if you have taken the safety class a minimum of 3 times, you will be asked to help the instructor with the training.

There are still a few 4-H members who sold a market animal at the 2017 4-H Auction and haven’t turned in a   4-H Market Project Record. In order to sell at the 2018 Auction, it must be turned in to the Extension Office by before December 29, 2017. Checks for market animals will be sent after you have submitted your completed record. Please remember there is a difference between the Market Project Record and the Production (Breeding) Project Sheet. Your General Leader or active project leader (who is on file at the 4-H Office) must sign your Market Project Record before you turn it in. Checks will come from Karen Winchell, secretary/treasurer for the 4-H Livestock Sale Committee.

At the National Youth Summit on Agri-Science, high school students learn new skills and knowledge needed for the challenges facing agriculture, food security and sustainability. National 4‑H Council and National 4‑H Conference Center have partnered with agricultural scientists, researchers, leaders, politicians, and advocates to host the National Youth Summit on Agri-Science. This Summit emphasizes hands-on educational experiences led by experts in the agricultural community. This Summit is open to any high school student in grades 9-12. Registration is open now and closes December 29, 2017. Contact the Extension Office for more details and information on how to register for the event, 738-7291.
