2017 Festival Dates! April 28-May 6

This week-long festival offers something for everyone – families, adults, school groups, and kids – and IT’S FREE!
Here in southern Nevada, science and technology are everywhere! From atomic testing to the construction of the Hoover Dam, we have a rich history in science, technology, engineering, and math. Today, STEM development continues to flourish in our community: the Vegas valley is host to huge engineering projects like the third straw and the largest observation wheel in the world, tech startups are being drawn to the area in droves, and Nevada has been selected as one of just six development and testing states for unmanned aerial vehicles.
Several Cooperative Extension programs will be staffing a booth at the Las Vegas Science Festival on May 6 at Cashman Center! Stop by!

PansIf you or a loved one are suffering from kidney disease, diabetes or heart disease, join Cooperative Extension’s Chef/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Celestina Brunetti for hands-on culinary cooking classes.

Chef Brunetti will review the techniques to making cooking at home easy and fun.

Incentives and taste testing will be provided for attendees!

Learn new show tips and discuss how beneficial were last month’s preparation meetings.

Hula HoopsCreate a fun zone at home and get moving.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends watching TV no more than an hour or two a day.

Turn off the TVs, computers and video games and create some fun physical activity!

Get out some hula-hoops (or other circular object) and see how many things your family can invent to do with the hoop!

First allow children to use the hoops in any way they like (making sure that the hoops are used safely).

Here are more ways to use the hoops!
