If you’re wondering what fruits/veggies and plants can grow in southern Nevada, visit the Research Center & Demonstration Orchard. They grow peaches, pears, apples, tomatoes, plums and much more.

The Center is located at 4600 Horse Dr., North Las Vegas and is open to the public from 8 a.m. to Noon on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Master Gardeners are on hand to answer questions and conduct tours.

However, some foods that taste good are not very healthy for our bodies. So choose foods that taste good and are also good for you!
Healthy foods include fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and low-fat dairy products.

Free Childcare Provider training scheduled

July 21: Unlocking the Mysteries of Positive Guidance

Nevada Registry logoLearn ways to help children develop socially and emotionally through positive guidance.

Topics include: Understanding children, creating environments that prevent guidance problems and guidance skills that promote positive behavior.

The training will be held at the Lifelong Learning Center located at 8050 Paradise Rd. LV, Nev. from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Participants must pre-register via email to Sara Wright or Cathy Peshlakai.

Include your first and last name and the class title and date you wish to attend. You will receive an email response to confirm your registration. We do not accept phone registration or walk-ins.
