Cooperative Extension and the South Valley Rose Society are collaborating and offering educational meetings throughout the winter/spring. All meetings are free and open to the public. The January 23 meeting topic is: Winter Rose Pruning and Forcing Dormancy, offered by Marie Kaplan, Master Gardener and Consulting Rosarian.
Winter pruning tips for different rose varieties: Hybrid tea, Floribunda, Shrubs, Miniatures, Tree, Climbers and Old Garden Roses. How do you discard the canes and leaves? What tools are used for pruning: pruners, saws, loppers, etc.? How does one care for the tools and where can they be purchased.
