Nevada Naturalist LogoNevada Naturalist volunteers Christi Puglisi, Susan Marland, and Marikay Bremner enjoy a relaxing lunch at UNCE.  In addition to volunteering in the community, NV Naturalists are given the opportunity to assist during classes and field trips, as well as work in the office.  Their contributions are invaluable to the success of our program! Photo of blueprintJoin Clark County Cooperative Extension on Saturday, August 24, 2013, for a workshop on Gardening in Small Places: Landscape Design from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants will leave this workshop with the basics to create their own practical landscape design to turn that small space into a dream space.  Let Master Gardener Denise McConnell teach you tips for organizing your space and choosing size-appropriate plants to give the feeling of intimacy or create the illusion of more space.  Homeowners and other interested parties are welcome to attend. Details!

Today at the Clark County Research Center for Sustainable Urban Food Production we are picking apples, tomatoes, and onions.  Later this week we should have some Elephant Heart Plums and some Burbank Plums. SeedsThe Master Gardeners are getting ready to plant their Fall garden, and are checking past-season seeds for viability:

1. You’ll need ten seeds from one seed packet, a paper towel, plastic sandwich-sized baggie,… and the germination time as listed on seed packet.
2. Fold paper towel in half; sprinkle with water.  Place 10 seeds in the middle, then fold paper towel over to cover.  Place in a sealed bag and put in a warm spot.
