Receive your FREE radon test kit! Results show 1 in 4 homes have elevated levels; meetings throughout southern Nevada. It has no smell or taste and you can’t see it, but this gas can accumulate to harmful levels when trapped indoors.  If you haven’t tested your home for it, you could be exposing your family to a known carcinogen that can cause lung cancer over time. Completing your Advanced Medical Directive—making your general medical wishes known— might sound like a timely and tedious task.  University of Nevada Cooperative Extension makes this process easier by offering free, by appointment, sessions each month. The clinic (available in English and in Spanish) will address living wills for health care, assigning a durable power of attorney for your health care, a brief overview of your patient rights and health care ethics to navigate the health care system. The Advanced Medical Directive clinics are available statewide. University of Nevada Cooperative Extension will offer the Nuts and Bolts of Grant Writing on Thursday, February 18 and again on Wednesday, March 10. The one-day class session will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lifelong Learning Center located at 8050 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, (I-215 and Windmill Lane).  The Nuts & Bolts of Grant Writing is available statewide.
